Okay, I want to talk about planners and journals for a minute because, honestly, this stuff feels like kind of a big deal to me. So just bear with me.

This year, I used a Hobonichi Cousin as both my personal planner and memory-keeping journal. The monthly pages were for appointments, bill due dates, work events, meetings, and deadlines. Basically anything date-related went there.

For the weekly pages, I used them as my giant running to-do list. I mixed personal and work tasks together since I work from home anyway, and my days tend to blend together.

Then the daily pages became my space for journaling, random thoughts, brain dumps, little life updates… you know, all the rambling.

I also have a Hobonichi Weeks that technically serves as my work planner. The Cousin is great, but let’s be real, it’s not exactly something I want to carry everywhere. It gets pretty bulky once it’s filled with stickers, washi, photos, and all the other things I inevitably add to it. The Weeks is much easier to toss into my bag, and it works perfectly for daily work tasks and project tracking.

I know it’s still kind of early, but I can’t be the only one who’s already excited about getting next year’s planners. Some people ordered directly from Japan and got those gorgeous limited-edition covers. I ended up getting mine from Amazon. And yes, before you ask, I bought them early for the same reason everyone else does… I got excited

So here’s my 2027 planner and journal lineup:

Hobonichi Cousin
This will continue being my personal planner, memory keeper, and catch-all journal for pretty much anything under the sun. I’ve been thinking about using the yearly index pages as a habit tracker, but I’m still not completely sold on that idea. We’ll see.

Hobonichi Weeks (Work Planner)
This one will stay dedicated to work and project planning. I also want to use it to track my work hours because my schedule can be all over the place. There are days when I work 10+ hours without realizing it, and other days where I only work a couple of hours.

Hobonichi Weeks (Health & Fitness Planner)
Yes, another Weeks. This one will be for my husband and me. I’d like to track our walks, workouts, weight, medications, and maybe finally get consistent with meal planning. I always say I’m going to meal plan, so maybe writing it down will help (???)

Lately, I’ve also been thinking about keeping a separate mental health journal. I’ve been going through therapy, and right now all of my notes and reflections live on my phone. Part of me thinks having a dedicated journal for therapy, mental health, and personal reflections could be really helpful. But another part of me is wondering if that’s just one journal too many.

What do you think? Would you keep a separate journal for that, or would you just include it in your regular journal?

And speaking of journals… do you keep one?

Love, Rosie

P.S. I also have anime and reading journals. Apparently I’m just that girl with a journal for everything. I already feel sorry for my future grandchildren when they’re stuck cleaning out our attic one day. Can you imagine? They’ll find thirty years’ worth of notebooks and wonder what was wrong with their grandma. Haha
