Week 2 of my 38 Going 39 series feels like a deep breath after a long stretch of holding everything together. I started this project to capture the small moments before I turn 39, and already it is reminding me how full a single week can be.

After sixteen days in the hospital, my husband finally came home. Those days felt long and heavy, and even though I will not go into details here, I am grateful for the strength we found in the middle of it all. The first thing he wanted was real food, so we went to an Italian restaurant and celebrated with a simple meal.

Tortellini Alfredo

While he was admitted, I ate whatever brought me comfort. Pork intestines, fried chicken and waffles, and other things he would never choose. Those meals felt like tiny moments of relief during a stressful time.

Our neighbors invited me to a birthday dinner, and it reminded me how much community matters. Good food and warm company were exactly what I needed.

My stationery packages are piling up again. Hahaha. Maybe it is a coping mechanism, or maybe it is simply joy. Should I start sharing more about my planning and journaling. It is a big part of my life.

Cupcake had an accident, so I had to give her a bath. It was her first bath in eleven years. She meowed like she was telling the entire world about her suffering, but afterward she asked for treats as if nothing happened. She is fourteen now, and moments like this remind me how much care lives in the quiet corners of our days.

I went to a church fundraiser with a fellow Filipina, and it felt like stepping into a small pocket of home. There were food stalls, cultural dances, children laughing, and the joy of hearing Tagalog again. I even met nurses who cared for my husband. Life has a way of connecting threads you never expect.

And the food made my heart so happy. I missed Filipino food so much.

Thank you for being here with me for Week 2. How’s your week been?

Love, Rosie
