Week 3 of my journey to 39 did not start the way I imagined.

First, our car would not start, and of course our portable jump kit was dead too. Argh! I ended up reaching out to some friends in the neighborhood to see if anyone could help. One of them was not even home, but he called his dad and he drove all the way to our house to give us a jump. How amazing is that? Moments like that remind me how grateful I am for the people around us. Life can be frustrating sometimes, but it can also be incredibly kind.

Because of the car trouble, we missed my husband’s appointment and had to reschedule it later that day. Thankfully, everything worked out in the end.

Then the very next day, the car would not start again. So, we headed to AutoZone and got a new battery, which solved that problem. Or so we thought. Not long after, the air conditioning stopped working too. Aggghhh! My husband took the car to the dealership, and thankfully they were able to fix it. So the car is finally running again.

I still catch myself thinking about trading it in. Then I remember something very important: no car payment. That thought alone is enough to make me reconsider.

The week may have started rough, but it definitely got better. We finally had pizza with garlic butter. Not just any pizza, either. Stuffed crust pizza!!! Hahaha. Honestly, pizza, cats, and Forensic Files sounds like a perfect day to me.

One of my favorite parts of the week was meeting some new Filipina friends and sharing a meal together. The food was absolutely delicious, but what made it even better was the sense of connection. And there was laing and biko!! Oh my goodness.

Laing has always been one of my favorite Filipino dishes, and taking that first bite felt a little emotional.

Later in the week, we met a friend for breakfast, and apparently I had accumulated three strikes against me.

Strike One: I still have not finished reading his book and leaving comments on it. Yes, he is writing a book and it will be published soon.

Strike Two: One of his cats was reportedly upset because I have not visited in a while.

Strike Three: I failed to bring him Filipino food after stuffing myself with delicious Filipino food while out with my new friends.

I admit it. Those are some pretty serious offenses.

I also mowed the lawn this week. The weather was beautiful, and the breeze was just right. As usual, my mind wandered into one of my daydreams. This time, I imagined myself pushing a grocery cart overflowing with healthy food and snacks. In reality, I was pushing a lawn mower. Hahaha

Then suddenly, a stranger appeared.

The best way I can explain it is this: it felt like someone walking up and demanding the Honeycrisp apples that I spent forever carefully picking out. Haha. I immediately snapped out of my grocery store fantasy and called for backup. Husband to the rescue.

I am happy to report that I survived the encounter. Unfortunately, I lost all my imaginary apples (wink).

To end the week, I came down with a terrible stomachache and was not able to attend church. Instead, I spent most of the day curled up on the couch watching Young Sheldon. Not exactly how I planned to spend my Sunday, but sometimes rest is what we need most.

Mochi making everything better!

Looking back, it really was an eventful week. There were car problems, surprise expenses, good food, new friendships, lawn mowing adventures, imaginary apples, and far too many stationery packages waiting to be opened. In fact, another package arrived this week. I would like to say I have self control but that would be a lie.

And finally, because apparently I needed one more thing to happen this week, I tried a new shampoo and conditioner.

And I absolutely loved them.

Thank you for being here and reading my rambles.

Love, Rosie
